19th Century Chinese Blue and White Plate

Description One of a pair of 19th century Chinese hand painted flow blue and white plates. They measure 257mm or 8″ in diameter. The name ‘flow’ is derived from the deep blue glaze that blurred or “flowed” during the firing process. The detail is quite remarkable and must have taken the artist an extremely long time to create a virtual replica of each piece. There is a slight willow pattern influence to the design. Blue and white china originated in the Far East and was later extensively copied by English pottery and porcelain factories. Highly collectable for centuries, blue and white china has made a big revival. Both plates are in very good condition with no cracks or chips and I’d date them at early to mid 19th century. There are no identifying marks to the base which is not unusual for pieces of this age or origin. These plates are being sold separately but I’d be happy to consider an offer for the pair.
