Large Cast Iron Door Knocker Dated 1873

$ 95.35

Category:
Description Lovely large door knocker made of cast iron with all attachments. We can date this knocker very precisely from the Lozenge mark on the back of the door plate which is April 1873. The marker’s marks are also imprinted in the metal, A Kenrick & Sons. It has been painted in a black enamel paint but this could easily be removed and the cast iron can be ‘cured’ to avoid it rusting. This is done by covering the metal with lard and baking it in the oven at a high temperature for approximately an hour and a half. It measures 18.5cm in length. Because of the weight, shipping on this item would be £10 within the UK, 1st Class Signed For.
