Antique Tribal Ashanti Bronze Gold Weight

$ 23.84

Category:
Description One of 4 small antique bronze ‘gold weights’, very likely from the Ashanti tribe, Ghana in West Africa. These little bronzes were often fashioned after local tribal villagers and were used to weigh gold. However, I have weighed them and as there’s no uniformity to their weight, I can’t be 100% certain that these were made for that purpose. Nevertheless, they are hand made and each one is different. I’d date them at around the 1920’s. They are being sold individually, so have a look at the others. It measures 5.1cm (2”) high.
