Wonderful Japanese ceramic okimono depicting ‘Oni nenbutsu’ or demon in monk’s robes performing Buddhist winter training by banging a gong and repeating prayers. He is holding a sign that says 光陰如箭 ‘time flies like an arrow’. One of his horns is slightly shorter, showing his progress on the path towards enlightenment. Missing the tip of one of his toes but it’s barely noticeable. Otherwise in good original condition. Height: 11.5 cm
