Description Kyriakos Rokos (1945) – Bronze mirror Dimensions: 69.5 X 48.5 X 3.0 cm. Weight: 10,900 g. Biography: Kyriakos Rokos took his first lessons from Panos Sarafianos and Vrasidas Vlachopoulos and studied sculpture at the School of Fine Arts (1965-1969) with Yiannis Pappas and plaster-casting with Nikos Kerlis. He then went to Paris and studied at the School of Fine Arts, working under Kostas Koulendianos and César. He also studied lithography under Georges Dyer until 1976. During the three years 1981-1983 he taught free drawing at the Vakalos School, while until today he teaches at T.E.I. of Athens. He has been repeatedly honored with awards for his work. He has presented his work in solo exhibitions in Greece and abroad and has taken part in numerous group events, including Panhellenic, the Salon of New Sculpture in Paris, the Biennale of Contemporary Sculpture at the Rodin Museum in 1974, the Budapest Biennale in 1980, the International Medal Exhibition in 1990 in Helsinki and the Budapest Triennale in the same year, the exhibition La Sculpture Greque Contemporaine in Paris in 1991, as well as sculpture symposia. Personal experiences and experiences are the starting point for the creation of Kyriakos Rokos compositions, which are formed from a variety of materials – marble, pumice stone, granite, stone, clay, plaster, wood, bronze and polyester – and are characterized by combinations of parts of the human body. that accumulate and spring from the basic volume of the material, creating, through a surreal or dreamlike atmosphere, a multitude of associations. In addition to free sculptural compositions he has also crafted objects of everyday use, as well as public monuments, tombs, badges, medals and plaques. In the context of his wider artistic activity, he has also collaborated with the Karolos Koun Art Theatre, the National Theatre, the DI.PE.THE. of Ioannina and Minos Volanakis, has published books and published articles in the daily press.
